Schools invited to take on the world’s best
Children have a chance to win VIP experiences when the AVIVA Women’s Tour reaches Warwickshire on Thursday 16th June.
That’s the length of Stage 2 on the Women’s Tour. To celebrate its arrival in Warwickshire children are invited to take on the stage themselves by hosting their own sponsored challenge.
The competition is part of a sustained effort by
- Northern Warwickshire Active Community Foundation,
- Cyc-All Community Foundation,
- Cycling for Girls’ Go to Ride Club, and
- Warwickshire County Council
to create a legacy of cycling in the county.
There are three ways students can go head to head with World Champion Lizzie Armitstead and reigning AVIVA Women’s Tour Champion Lisa Brennauer. Details – including information on a paid support service – can be found in the “Take on the Tour” Brochure.
Pupils can work as specific year groups, or as a whole school (which is recommended for larger primary and secondary schools.
All challenges must be completed and record sheets submitted by Wednesday 8th June 2016 to enable schools to be entered into the competition. Top prize is a VIP experience on the day of the competition (Thursday 16th June).
It’s a great opportunity to promote female sporting role models, and inspire more young girls in Warwickshire to get active.

All schools taking on the challenge will receive information on cross-curricular ideas for
- Science, and
All of which link in with cycling, the Aviva Women’s Tour and the Challenge itself.
Pupils will also get invaluable experience of being part of a team as they compete together over a tough distance and raise money for a worthwhile cause.
